Speldhurst is in the High
Weald, an area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural
Beauty for its medieval landscape of rolling hills, small,
irregular fields, abundant woods and hedges, scattered farmsteads
and sunken lanes.
If you're looking for places
to visit, why not try some of the 'The Seven Wonders of the
Weald' which include Bewl Water, Lamberhurst Vineyard and
Sissinghurst Castle Garden. In fact the area's woodland
conceals over 30 small manor houses, castles and beautiful
parks and gardens, 9 of which are managed by the National
Trust.
Many of the nearby towns and
villages also offer an interesting and pleasant alternative
to shopping in Tunbridge Wells town centre. Cranbrook and
Goudhurst are particularly worth a visit with their good selection
of small specialist shops, antique shops and eateries - good
places to seek out local specialities or a special reminder
of the area to take home.
