The Old Post Office is located in Speldhurst close to St Mary's
Church, the first record of which is in 1239, and which houses
famous Burne Jones & William Morris stained glass windows.
Nearby is The George and Dragon,
the heart of Speldhurst and a traditional 13th Century Inn
with roaring log fires and dramatic oak beams. They sell local
bitters and good wines, and local seasonal food simply cooked,
using the bounty of local produce from the surrounding areas.
As a result they had the honour of winning 2 Bib Gourmand's
from Michelin and the Alistair Sawdays, Local, Seasonal Pub
of the Year Award. This is a must to visit during your stay!
Speldhurst is surrounded by
the stunning Wealden countryside and some notable attractions
not to be missed, which you can enjoy whilst walking the "Speldhurst
Circular", one of the four "Tunbridge Wells Circular" short
walks.
You should also try the famous
"Speldhurst sausages" which are known world wide!
